“When our nursing agency closed its doors, we were desperate.
Children’s Nursing Specialties promised they’d take care of us and they
did! They haven’t stopped giving since.”

"CNS is an ally, a friend, and an advocate for our daughter.
We
appreciate the professionalism, care and compassion they contribute to
our lives. It is easy to recommend their services to others."

"Over the past six
years, I have used all of the major home nursing agencies in the
Portland area. The services provided by CNS are superior to all
the others. The honesty and integrity of the support staff is
greatly appreciated. They work very hard to meet the nursing
needs of my family, and do an excellent job at it. The nurses
they provide in my home are highly skilled and ethical, and they
go beyond the call of duty to help me meet all the needs of my
child.
After six years of working with all the agencies, I am so
thankful for CNS. They do the very best job by far. I have
recommended them to other families with similar needs, and will
continue to do so." Deana Mother and

Back in December of 2004, our daughter had a brain injury that
left her a "Quad 4", trached, vent dependent and on oxygen
throughout the day and night. We left the hospital four months
later to come home with our whole world turned upside down.
Thank God for CNS. They helped to make our transition from being
in a hospital setting to coming back home much more comfortable.
We have some of the best nurses who have taken a real heart to
our daughter and helped us to get her back to a better place
than where we were at two years ago. They were there when we
needed them to make good conscientious decisions and helped us
heal mentally. I don't think of them as just our nurses, but
as part of our family. Thank you, CNS, for all that you have
helped us accomplish these past few years. Darren

It thrills
me to know that my little girl is a CNS success story. I hope
everyone understands the importance of home nursing and what it
can do for families. Others might not realize that without CNS
we would have spent almost a year in the hospital (instead of
three months) and I know that the quality of all our lives would
have been less than desirable. Being at home has allowed all
of us to live, love and grow as a family should. And has
been a safe place for our daughter Annabelle to flourish. Thank
you CNS for all you do. Elijah

“This is an
incredible company to work for. It is the most
satisfied and valued I’ve ever felt in my career.”

“With the advent of portable equipment,
we can provide first-rate care in a relaxed environment. The
one-to-one nursing ratio
ensures all your attention is devoted to meeting the needs of the child.
This is the ultimate bedside care experience where the joys of the child infect our
souls and we can enhance their quality of life.”
"Since I switched to home care with CNS, I never
drive home after my shift with thoughts of "What may I have forgotten to
do?" The hectic pace is a thing of the past."
"There are no milestone
calendars to follow when dealing with medically fragile children’s'
development. Every milestone met is a
complete surprise and a monumental occasion!"
"You
can't help but experience the joy of life when you
work with medically fragile children."
"Families are so grateful, as our presence means
they can get some needed rest with their child at home. We truly make a difference when
we come to work!"
"A typical day isn't
always so typical when caring for MFC. One shift
may be all about Cat in the Hat, and the next its Thomas the Tank. You
quickly re-learn songs you may not have sung since your own childhood."

"Through my investigation of several home health agencies that
provide services to pediatrics, I found Children's Nursing
Specialties provides the optimum balance of professionalism and
personal warmth. They require strict adherence to guidelines,
rules and regulations, and mandatory updating of nursing skills,
which are necessary for working in the home health setting. In
return, they provide an opportunity to care for children in the
end stages of life, those who are permanently disabled but
considered stable, and those who are healed of their illness.
Working an eight to twelve hour shift and having fun...what a
concept! While providing one on one care, I'm able to connect
with my inner child and sing, dance, build with blocks or Legos,
read story books, watch cartoons and soak up the sunshine and
rainbows that radiate from these children.
Though heart wrenching, I can rest in the knowledge that home
health nursing allows me to function in the family's environment
instead of uprooting the child to an institutional setting. In
the child's eye, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz knew what
was best...'There's no place like home!"
I am so proud to be a
part of the development of Children’s Nursing Specialties, Inc.
My son, Eric, has been receiving nursing care at home for over
20 years and in those 20 years we have experienced several home
nursing agencies. The development of CNS has allowed us to do it
not only the right way, but for the right reasons. The
children are able to be an integral part of their family unit,
their schools and communities. Their opportunities are
endless and to be a part of making this possible for these kids
is priceless.
